Venue Address

The MH Atlântico Congress Centre is located near Praia da Consolação, on Portugal’s Atlantic coast, approximately 6 km from the centre of Peniche. The venue is around 80 km north of Lisbon and can be reached by plane followed by coach, private transfer, taxi, or rental car.

How to reach the event

A. By plane

1. Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport

Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is the recommended airport for participants travelling to the meeting. It is Portugal’s largest international airport and offers direct connections with many European cities, as well as destinations in Africa, North America, South America, and the Middle East.

The airport is approximately 80 km from Peniche, and the journey to the venue takes around one hour by car, depending on traffic.

Several options are available for travelling from Lisbon Airport to Peniche:

  • By direct coach

FlixBus currently operates selected direct services between Lisbon Airport and Peniche. Services and schedules may vary according to the season and day of travel, and participants should consult the operator’s website before making their travel arrangements.

Coaches arrive at the Peniche Bus Terminal, located approximately 6 km from the MH Atlântico. A taxi or pre-booked transfer is recommended for the final journey from the bus terminal to the hotel.

  • Via Lisbon city centre

Regular coaches to Peniche are operated by Rede Expressos, mainly from Lisbon’s Sete Rios Bus Terminal. Sete Rios can be reached from the airport by metro, taxi, or app-based transport services.

When travelling by metro, take the Red Line from the airport and change to the Blue Line for Jardim Zoológico, which is located next to the Sete Rios Bus Terminal. Further information on the Lisbon metro network is available from Metropolitano de Lisboa.

Participants are advised to consult the coach operators’ websites closer to the meeting dates, as schedules for June 2027 may not yet be available.

  • By taxi, private transfer, or rental car

Taxis, app-based transport services, private transfers, and rental cars are available at Lisbon Airport. Participants travelling as a group may find a pre-booked private transfer particularly convenient.

Information on any transfers organised specifically for meeting participants will be announced closer to the event. This optional service will be subject to sufficient participant interest and will require advance booking and payment of an additional fee.

  • By car

From Lisbon, follow the A8 motorway towards Leiria and take the IP6 exit towards Peniche. Follow the signs for Atouguia da Baleia, Praia da Consolação, and MH Atlântico. The journey normally takes approximately one hour, depending on traffic.

Please note that sections of the Portuguese motorway network are subject to tolls. Most rental cars are equipped with electronic toll devices, but participants should confirm toll-payment arrangements directly with the rental company.

On-site parking is available at the hotel.

2. Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport

Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) may be considered as an alternative when more convenient flight connections are available. The airport is approximately 270 km from Peniche, corresponding to a journey of around three hours by car.

Rental cars are available at the airport. Travel by public transport is also possible but generally requires one or more connections and takes considerably longer. Participants arriving in Porto are therefore advised to compare the complete travel time with connections through Lisbon before booking their flights.

B. By coach

Peniche has regular coach connections with Lisbon and several other Portuguese cities. Tickets, routes, and updated schedules can be consulted through:

The main arrival point is the Peniche Bus Terminal. As the meeting venue is located outside the town centre, participants should complete the journey to the MH Atlântico by taxi or pre-arranged transfer. The drive from central Peniche to the hotel takes approximately 10–15 minutes.

Coach schedules and fares may change before June 2027. Participants should therefore confirm all travel details directly with the transport operator before departure.

C. By train

Peniche does not have a railway station, and travelling by train is not the most direct option. The nearest railway connections are in Óbidos and Caldas da Rainha, from where an additional road transfer is required.

For most participants arriving from Lisbon or Porto, travelling by coach or car will be more convenient. Information on Portuguese railway services is available from Comboios de Portugal.

Visa and Entry Information

Portugal is part of the Schengen Area, and entry requirements follow the common Schengen rules.

Citizens of the European Union, European Economic Area, and Switzerland may enter Portugal with a valid passport or national identity card. Nationals of other countries should verify whether they require a short-stay Schengen visa. A short-stay visa normally permits stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

Visa-exempt travellers from outside the EU may be required to obtain an ETIAS travel authorisation before travelling to Portugal in 2027. As the implementation schedule is still subject to confirmation, participants should consult the official ETIAS website closer to their departure date. ETIAS is a travel authorisation and not a visa.

Participants requiring an invitation letter will be able to download an automatically generated PDF letter during registration. Those requiring additional supporting documentation for a visa application should contact the meeting organizers sufficiently in advance.

Attendees are responsible for ensuring that they have valid travel documents and meet all entry and return requirements applicable to their nationality and travel itinerary. Participants should consult the relevant embassy or consulate if they are uncertain about the documentation required.

Additional Information

Currency

The currency used in Portugal is the euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, although carrying a small amount of cash may be useful for minor purchases.

Electricity

Portugal uses 230 V, 50 Hz electricity. Power sockets are type C and F, using two round pins.

Time zone
